• The Herd was founded in 1967 on Silverhoof and Eriswell lines. Pinkwood Bridget joined the Herd in 1968 and was the foundation of the S family which had early success with R188 Simona, the Herd's very first 400 gallon milker, and her sister who was the dam of Talbothayes Everdene (a Mastermind daughter), the first big winner.
• Sandhurst Candice joined the Herd in 1974 and has produced an exceptionally strong family of British Toggenburgs all descended from Ashdene Clara.
• Mostyn Mastermind joined the Herd as a kid in 1975 and it is considered that his daughters and his stamp put the Ashdene Herd on the map.
• Sandalwood Sherbert (a Mastermind daughter) joined the Herd in 1976 and is the foundation of the world famous M and N families.
• Silverline Astarte, yet another Mastermind daughter, joined the Herd in 1979 and founded the successful 'A line' including some useful British Alpines.

Nick Parr was the youngest judge ever elected to the BGS panel of licensed judges. He is vice chairman of the BGS and Honorary Solicitor.
