Ashdene Metaphor is considered by her breeders to be one of the top 3 goats of all time - along with Didgemere Dream and Mostyn Daphne. This reflects a phenomenon far above and beyond the show ring. These 3 goats individually moved the goal posts and changed the focus and aspirations of British goatkeeping.

• Didgemere Dream was the first goat to give over 18lbs in a 24 hour milking competition when she gave 8.25 kilos in the 1920s. She was also a stunningly smart and attractive goat who proved that high yields and Champions can go hand in hand and was part of an awesome and prolific team of winners that influenced all who followed.
• Mostyn Daphne was quite simply the best show goat that ever lived and her extraordinary record of show wins at the major shows over many years stands second to none. Nick Parr saw Daphne at the Dairy Show in 1968 when he was a small boy. The standard was set. We are still aiming to achieve it.
• Ashdene Metaphor became world famous when she broke the UK record for 365 day milk yield and went on to break the world record for lifetime yield, but unlike many other super heavy milkers she did all this while collecting no less than 69 Challenge Certficates, both Open and Inspection Production, putting her in a league of her own.
  Metaphor was the daughter, sister, mother and grandmother of Champions.

The achievements of Metaphor have been honoured by having a top BGS Milk Recording award named after her (highest Milk Recorded Champion of the Year).
A presentation of the award is  made each year at the AGM.
